Hyaluronic Acid

This is a glycosaminoglycan, and can help replace lost synovial fluid. We can use this either into joints or around tendons.

It is also known as ‘visco-supplementation’, providing joint lubrication, and shock absorbency and can help both osteoarthritis and tendon problems. It often can take slightly longer to produce an effect, but does have a better side effect profile than steroids.

It also has been shown to be an effective treatment by a Cochrane review and have longer lasting effects than steroid joint injections.  We are happy to discuss all options with you!
